- 1749V garret turbo
- Big intercooler
- 6 speed manual front wheel drive gearbox
- Weigth 1470 kg with full tank

Best fuel consumption
3.92 L/100 km

This is what we need to lower our consumption, not adding heavy batteries and electrical engines.
Until hydrogen is available on a larger scale, that is.

Some other guy did a similar thing:
http://www.wardtro.de/html/3l_audi.h…
Also he re-used some parts:
http://www.wardtro.de/html/lupo_v8.h…
He also cut down a 3L engine(3 cylinder) to a 2L(2 cylinder) for better fuel consumption:

Or you could just buy a Prius, but heck, why not hack together a VW parts bin special?

Nice finds! And what makes the A8 really suitable for this is its lightweight chassis for its size. Think I read about some parts of the body/chassis being aluminum.

Yes it is, this generation of A8 was to first of its class to feature an all aluminium space frame, making it way lighter than a comparable 7 series or S-class.

Wow, that’s impressive. Imo also kinda stupid because 3 cylinder diesel engines run like shit, that’s the reason a friend bought a 1.6 TDI VW Polo instead of the facelifted version where the popular 1.6 was replaced with the 1.4 TDI.

Looks like they put the leftover engine and lupo shell together.
Now that’s more to my liking

[edit] clicked the wrong reply button, but anyway, fun!

If you want a small fuel-efficient engine, why not get a K20?

That’s some work gone into that.
I wonder how it compares to the Ford Mondeo Zetec 1.0EcoBoost 125ps (123bhp)?

Yes, that indeed is some great parts re-use!

If someone asked me to do that conversion to my car id have a stroke.

Cars that drive like this would be unbelievably infuriating to anyone but an ecomodder hypermiler
![]() 08/22/2016 at 09:45 |

So you’ve driven it?

No but I read the stats

Wow, that guy lives 10mins from my parents house lol.

Haha, what a coincidence, I knew about that site since it was linked on a dutch car website a while back, obviously for the fact he swapped a V8 into a Lupo, not the A8 3L.
You should swap engines with Car Guy, so you have world’s most fuel efficient Lincoln MKVIII, and he has world’s fastest Twingo. Haha

Haha, not sure what he’d think about this though.
